I’m sorry blog so being gone so long!

I just spent the past hour typing a blog entery (truthfully, it was mainly pictures) and then I realised I was logged on Pretty-Thrifty’s account! >.< So I’ll try that blog entery again, shall I? =P

On May the 15th I made my way to The Crocus Gallery Opening where I took part in a FREE silk painting taster workshop ran by a lovely lady, Danushka, and her daughter!

(picture taken from Crocus Gallery’s Blog!) Wearable and displayable art =) gorgeous things!

This is Magsy Malone’s Posey

with some border work by me and Danushka’s little girl.

and here’s my posey with swirls, with help from Danushka’s eldest daughter.

and what does Danushka create and sell? He’s just a taster:

….I give you permission to swoon….

Our finished scarves are on display at Crocus Gallery. Just a Bus ride away from Broadmarsh Bus Centre!

Who else did we meet on this eventful day other than Alyn, Morag and Sarah… we found… ANNA!

Anna’s a SUPER HUMAN… hero type woman.

And I want that camera.

Say “Hi!” to this flower, it was in Alice in Wonderland decades ago!

Check out my button and paper bling! I left my jewellery children with their uncle Alyn whilst I went on holiday and he managed to re-home FOUR of them!

At some point in my time at Crocus Gallery this day I did some singing. It was requested. I swear! I’m a good singer anyway.

Too soon came the end of the opening, and I was told to give back Anna’s dad’s camera… come homeee with meeee Canon…

Also in this day (before I had returned home to start packing my suitcase for my Spain holiday the day after)….

Sarah and I poked around in the light shop on Maid Marian Way and found a magical 90 pound mirror that makes our short forms appear taller!

90 pounds? I want it!

And, like an episode of Doctor Who, we returned to the market square to find we’d accidentally gone back in time!you’re not the only one surprised to find they had pizza hut in Robin Hood’s time.

OH! It’s the premiere of Robin Hood? Okay. Fair enough.

This dark, shining, bright, end of the day view made me not want to leave Nottingham! However….

*atchoo!* Day out with Alyn & Morag

with one comment

Is it possible to get heyfever from a plant? I nicked some rosemary… well… lots of rosemary… that’s growing from a bush out side of Alyn’s appartment building and the scent has been making me sneeze and have a tickly nose.

Word press is heightist ^ I prefer the “short & squat” version myself… wonder why 😉

FINALLY, here are the pictures of my day out with Alyn and Morag:

Dorian’s Boat! (Alyn calling Dorian to see if he’s inside)…

…has a heart shape hole.

I saw this and thought “aww! what lovely lives people have who live on boats- only 10% worry!”

DO these bunnies have guns?

and then I saw this… not so sweet and worry-free after all >.<

Luuurvely golden glows and silver gleams from the cold february sunshine.

Bead making from pop bottles!

leave a comment »

Last night I travelled/walked to Morag’s home where I would experiment with her and Alyn in the kitchen and figure out how to make plastic beads- simply using plastic bottles, scissors, a pan of boiled water… and a SPOON (for fishing out the end results =])

Materials Needed:
– Plastic bottles! Small? Big? WHAT EV’s! Different colours too!
– Marker pens (silver, gold, black, blue, red and green… Sharpies even come in a myriad of pretty colours like orange, purple and teal!)
– Pan
– Kettle full of water.
– Scissors! (‘careful!)

– Boil the kettle.

– Cut the bottles in to strips! Feel free to experiment with lengths! Shapes! All sorts! =D In our experimentations we found that if we wanted to make beads we had to cut BIG bottles in to strips horizontal (width) ways, BUT cut little bottles in to strips vertical (length) ways.

– Pour boiled water from kettle in to the pan, place on a low heat!

– Colour in and/or draw lines and patterns on to plastic strips

– Holding one end, slowly draw the plastic strips one by one- in to the hot water.

twizzly fun! (note the updated finger plaster found at Morag’s)

– Excited? They should spin quite quickly and roll up in to beady cylinders! =D EXCELLENT XD *ahem* But, speaking as a 21-year-old who did this with two middle-aged friends, we were all very happy to play with these for a long while- taking it in turns to cut strips and lower them in to water, colouring them in before hand, experimenting!

Some more!:

Some went scibblypob during our experimentation of vertical/horizontal/diagonal strips.

Scibblypob- my scat word. Made it up.

Oh YEAH! LAST step:

– Fish them out with a SPOON…and dont drop the spoon in to the pan… ouch.

See Alyn’s hand? Yup, got the PROPPA sculptor artisty person to do crafts. MWHAHAHAHHA. addictive!

The green bottle was a small 7up bottle, the clear bottle was a biiiig IrnBru bottle, so oui, this the in the result of what we did, as you can see we ASSUMED we knew in which direction to cut the small green bottle but the results were opposite from the large clear bottle. all we did was made some slightly leaky green straws- rather than twirly whirly beads.
